Christmas Comes Early For Curtains And Covers
A long established interior design business became the lucky winners of Down District Council’s ‘Let’s Get Down To Business’ competition for small businesses in Down District, securing a bespoke computer package worth £1500 which was supplied by Downpatrick-based information technology company FastTech.
Curtains and Covers is a mobile business based from their workshop studio in Down Business Park in Downpatrick. This design and retail company make hand finished and traditionally crafted curtains, blinds and soft furnishings.

Curtains and Covers proprietor Maura McKay is pictured with Barry Hughes of FastTech after her business won the 'Let's Get Down to Business' competition sponsored by Down District Council.
Owner Maura McCay said, “Winning the competition gave us the opportunity to upgrade and make better use of the new business technology now available to us. We are absolutely delighted with the website that FastTech has designed for us – www.curtainsandcovers.co.uk, with the training and support provided, and with the new laptop computer which we can take into the homes of our customers to demonstrate our wide range of fabrics and styles. We expect this to add a whole new swatch of customers to our business.”
FastTech Director Barry Hughes said, “We are really delighted to have had the opportunity to play Santa to Curtains and Covers, and once again congratulate them on their success. The sponsorship package provided by the Council has enabled us to work for the benefit of another local business. At FastTech – wwwfasttechni.com – we are proud of our commitment to a tailored customer service, and so we are providing additional hardware and maintenance to the package free of charge.”
